Shipping guide

Shipping for customers outside the UK

Customers outside the UK arrange transport in both directions with their own freight forwarder. This page explains the process, how to pack a die and the paperwork your forwarder will need.

Why you arrange the transport

Customs stays in your hands

Declarations are made by your forwarder, under your own customs numbers, in your own country.

One forwarder, both directions

The same forwarder handles the journey out and back, so the export, UK import and return paperwork match.

Clear costs

You choose the service and timing. Transport is billed directly to you, with no mark-up from us.

How it works

  1. 01

    Enquiry with photos

Send us photos and details of the die. We confirm whether it can be restored, the price and the lead time.

  2. 02

    Transport to us

Book your forwarder to deliver to our workshop (address below) and send us the tracking number.

  3. 03

    Inspection and work

We inspect the die on arrival, confirm the quote and carry out the work.

  4. 04

    Ready notice

We email you when the die is ready, with our invoice and the packed dimensions and weight.

  5. 05

    Return

Your forwarder collects from our workshop by arrangement and handles the return journey.

Packing a rotary die

  • Protect the cutting surface: wrap the die body in protective film or VCI paper. Nothing hard should touch the blades.
  • Support the die on its journals, or use its original box, so the body never rests on the cutting edges.
  • Use a strong wooden crate or the original die case for courier transport.
  • Mark the outside: "Precision tool. Handle with care. Do not stack."
  • Put a note inside with your company name, contact, die number and a short description of the problem.
  • We re-use your packaging for the return wherever possible.

Paperwork

Your forwarder makes the customs declarations. They will normally ask for:

  • A pro forma or commercial invoice from you describing the die, its value and that it is being sent for repair and return
  • Your EORI number and any details your forwarder needs for the UK import
  • Our invoice, which covers the restoration service only. The die remains your property throughout.

Suggested invoice wording

1 x rotary cutting die (used, customer-owned).
Sent to the United Kingdom for repair and return to the owner.
No change of ownership. Value declared for customs purposes only.

Customs duty and VAT

Under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, customs duty is not normally charged when goods are sent between the UK and the EU for repair and then returned. Import VAT may still be due on the value of the repair when the die comes back.

Rules differ by country and by procedure, and different rules apply to countries outside the EU such as Switzerland or Norway. Please confirm the details with your freight forwarder. This page is general guidance, not customs advice.
